Kilfeacle And District RFC Munster Challenge Cup Final

On Sunday next Feb 26th all roads lead to Charliville at 2.00pm for the Munster Challenge Cup final v Bandon RFC.  These two clubs have met twice this season in the league and Munster Junior Cup.  The results have given us one victory each.  Kilfeacle won the league game by 4 or 5 points and in a fantastic Junior Cup encounter Bandon emerged victorious.  This game on Sunday is to decide the winner of the last of their engagements.  Yes it’s a great achievement by the little club on the hill – not alone to survive but to win the holy grail of junior rugby.

John Staunton the coach has done marvellous work with the squad assisted by Denis Keneally, Conor Gallagher, Paul Donovan and John Flaherty with Sean Heuston giving expert advice. Kilfeacle & District are basically a young outfit with Diarmuid O Donnell as Captain.  Tom Doyle, Ricky Whitney, Simon Barry, Conor Quinlan, Huma, Stephen Quirke consistently good all season.  The two McLaughlins are playing great stuff this season and to Jack and Bryan we look forward to another peak performance.  Kevin Kinane is as good a No 8 as there is in Junior Rugby. Cormac Ryan and Cormac O Donoghue are line out back row players who can get the job done for us on the day.  Yes will miss Dave Kirsey but the pack will do it for him.

Our backs are led by Shane Luby whom we can play in all positions and a very good tackler.  Gavin and Jamie Heuston at 9 and 10 are well capable of Big Games and have been going great guns all season. The two Lowry’s have skill and pace and brains in abundance.  Josh Featherstone brings plenty of experience;  Pat Ryan is possibly the fastest man in Junior Rugby – a fine tackler and given an inch will score.  Diarmaid McCarthy, the two Burkes – Dingle and Keith, Charles Walsh all bring plenty of experience to the table.  It will be tough but it’s great to be there.  Please support The Boys in Blue.  They’d love to see a big crowd there.  Thank you.
