Tipperary has been chosen as one of the best places to visit in 2026 by the Lonely Planet travel guide.

The beautiful Glen of Aherlow, is the first highlight. They write that the the Glen is ‘ridiculously scenic’ and is an ideal place for hiking, fishing, swimming and horseback riding.
Food in Tipperary also is a reason to visit the county, with the guide name dropping world famous Irish cider Bulmers, and Cashel Blue cheese, O’Donnells crips and Blanco Nino nachos. Restaurants of note are Mikey Ryan’s in Cashel and the Bishops Buttery.
Of course the guide goes on to mention such historic locations as the Rock of Cashel and Cahir Castle, which has often been used as a filming location for Hollywood movies. Lastly the guide gives note to the many friendly pubs in the county including the Thatch in Cloneen and Jim of the Mills.
