Ballyglass Country House is a small family run hotel in a 19th century house surrounded by 5 acres of gardens at the gateway to the beautiful Glen of Aherlow in Co Tipperary. You will find a tradition of hospitality there that is both ageless and timeless, with a warm welcome for every guest, whether you are staying for the first time or returning for another visit. The family are always on hand to ensure that each and every guest has a memorable and comfortable stay.

What was once a gracious country house at the centre of a large estate is now a small hotel which retains the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of a private home.

The Byrne family purchased Ballyglass House in April 1996, having previously spent thirteen very successful years in the Fir Grove Hotel in Mitchelstown, County Cork. In more recent times the second generation of Byrnes have become involved the business and our daughters, Jane and Ruth, now have an important and active role in managing the hotel.

When they first came to Ballyglass they immediately set about an extensive refurbishment and modernisation programme, always conscious of the importance keeping the best of the old while providing up-dated facilities and services for our guests.

The house was reopened in December 1996, and since then the family and staff have welcomed thousands of guests, many of whom return to stay with again and again. They aim to make guests feel relaxed and at home whether they are staying for a night or a week, have just dropped in to enjoy a meal or a drink, or are celebrating a special occasion such as a wedding.

No matter what the reason for your visit you can be sure of a genuine welcome and the friendly personal service that only a small family run hotel can provide.

Gardens at Ballyglass

Back in 1996 the gardens were in a sadly neglected state, and restoring them was a priority. After years of care and attention the gardens have now been returned to their former glory. The house is now surrounded by 5 acres of private ground and gardens, ideal for a stroll in the evening or for taking some special photographs to remind you of your time at Ballyglass.
